How Bihar Makhana is Harvested

• August–October: Lotus seeds are harvested by hand from shallow ponds by trained farmers
• Sun drying: Seeds are dried naturally in the Bihar sun for several days
• Roasting: Dried seeds are roasted in iron pans — the heat causes them to pop and puff
• Grading: Hand-sorted into grades based on size and quality. DesiPopd uses Grade A only.
• Packing: Fresh-packed in resealable pouches and dispatched within 24h of order
